Reading the book on hormones and understanding what is the triggers and understanding how an imbalance of certain hormones in our bodies have a devastating effect on us.
I too have suffered with a slow thyroid in my life and it is a really depressing time when you do not know what is the matter with you. I went to my Dr who recommended that I go for tests and then be on Thyroxin for the rest of my life. I told my Dr I would go seek an alternative way as the prospect of taking synthetic rubbish did not appeal to me one bit. I want to find the reason why it had happened and how to overcome it.
I was well blessed as I was in a supermarket near to my home. I got chatting to a really nice lady who as looking for someone to teach her to knit. I invited her back to my house and said I could show her the basics to get her started.
While we were sharing tea and chatting and me showing her how to start, we got chatting about her job. It turned out that she was in fact a dietician and that when I showed her my goitre on my neck she quickly told me that in India it is common and that it is in fact an Iodine deficiency, at this I was very interested to learn more about how to go about resolving my own issues. Her recommendation was to eat more fish, preferably oily fish. This at the time was not something I did very often. I had had a dream though where Jesus was standing over a fire cooking fish and honey combe so on hearing her say that it was fish I needed to eat I knew that I could get well and restored back to health.
I went in search of someone who could point me to a supplement initially to get the thyroid in check as I was looking in to the different kinds of fish I liked and learn to cook. I only was any good at fish fingers at this point.
It was suggested by someone I knew that I go along to the local health food store and have a chat with them. Thank goodness I found out how to get it sorted. They recommended Sea Kelp which I took, 6 a day initially and within 6 months the goitre had cleared up and then I was just taking three a day for a while until my weight and energy was restored to a much better way.
I was so bad that even to go down to the corner shop was a chore, got hot and bothered and sluggish. Red faced and struggled to do the smallest of tasks. However over time I have made a full recovery. I only take sea kelp now when I start to feel myself going down in energy and feel tired for no apparent reason and weight is difficult to shift so I know that I need to get back on track.
I do struggle with my weight and am at the moment working on my wii fitness plus and doing some yoga and muscle rebuilding exercises as now I am 68 and sometimes find that I can be a bit shaky so. Learning to adapt to a more active live-style is a must for me
I know that God has given me these tools to help me get back in shape as I have been very much aware that since my dogs have died I have not been getting the exercise I had when taking younger dogs out. Sadly both dogs have passed on both being over 15, they had a wonderful life, mountain walking and river and beach walking with me a lot of the time. Even when we first returned to the uk we were walking along rivers and beaches. Now they have gone I now need to find alternatives again to keep active and not allow myself to get dragged down into self pity and worrying about what is going to happen next. That is all in Gods hands. No matter what I think I can do, He knows what He wants me to do. So here I am writing to you about my life and sharing my experiences good and bad.
Without my faith in God and trusting him to take care of me, I know I would not be here. Every time I experience a near death experience I am always surprised that when I come through that I am still here breathing, enjoying the great gift of Life and enjoy my life with my garden and home I am finally in a place where I can call home.
