Restoring your own health does demand you take a good hard look at your own eating habits and choices you make.
I found this book Eat Right 4 your blood type extremely useful as it gave me a starting block.
For me, I am looking at a great deal of different issues to cover. Finding out that some of the food I have been enjoying all my life actually are not good for me, as they do not help me with my heart, liver, kidneys, eyes or bones or even in fact my whole well being. So readjusting to only buying what my body actually needs has made a vast difference.
I highly recommend that you find out what makes your body tick better, weight loss management, hormones, emotionally too, you would be surprised and what foods can trigger bad moods and good moods. What helps you gain weight and what can actually help you loose weight.
